The Squire’s Landing

The latest and most spectacular location of all the James Squire Brew Bars, this flagship venue sits right in the heart of Sydney’s iconic harbour, with panoramic views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the occasional whopping great cruise ship docking right next door.

The name and brand identity for the venue centred on the obvious connection with the location of the landing of the First Fleet, of which James was a member. This fact was also recognised in the hand painted Convict Register, a unique piece of brand communication developed exclusively for The Squire’s Landing, bringing a sense of authenticity and local flavour to the venue.

With so much glass and view to contend with the limited availability of environmental branding opportunities presented a difficult challenge. Also important was building awareness of the existence of the bar which, fronted by a large mass of water, required an appropriate response in identification signage.

Working in synergy with the architectural team at Collins & Turner we worked hard to weave the Squire’s brand into the fabric of the building so that the venue identification, storytelling, beer-centric communication and wayfinding blends seamlessly into the customer’s experience of the bar.
