Everyday Futures: Australia in the Age of Humans

Everyday Futures is an exhibition initiated by the Sydney Environment Institute to educate and inspire viewers about the new epoch known as the Anthropocene, or ‘Age of Humans’.

The aim of the website is to contribute to cultural transformation in the Anthropocene by offering a place to ask – and answer a range of significant questions.

Our approach centred on the use of impactful and engaging visuals with strong graphic messaging that reflects the urgency for dialogue on the issues relating to human impact on the planet. We also designed a forty second animated sequence with the animation assistance of Hackett Films, to bring fresh life and energy to issues of the environment.

The exhibition and accompanying website is a key part of the ARC Discovery Grant project ‘Understanding Australia in the Age of Humans: Localising the Anthropocene’, which brings together researchers from the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, the Australian National University and the National Museum of Australia.
