Design Intelligence is the essence of SBA’s offering. They can own and it allows them to diversify and expand into new sectors and cities.
The challenge
For over 20 years, SBA are one of Sydney’s leading design practices that have been known as experts in the industrial masterplanning, industrial and commercial architectural sectors. While the business had nestled themselves strongly in this niche they wanted to shift perceptions, diversify and introduce their interiors team.
The solution
Our rebrand needed to recognise three key sectors of SBA; masterplanning, architecture and interiors. In achieving this, we developed a graphic language that both paid reference to these as well as SBA’s excellence in the industrial sector through a simple square device, inspired by the ‘big box’ idea.
Our device formed a graphic system that allowed for symmetry, structure and professionalism that spoke to the quality of their work and their sector leading experience. It also informed the negative space in the letters of their new logo, a subtle nod which further reminds us of SBA’s mission to apply design intelligence to the inside and outside.
The outcome
SBA’s reimagined brand identity supported all of their internal and external collateral, digital and printed, helping the practice diversify into other sectors and be recognised as one Australia’s top architectural design practices.
